Aylor “Mike” Stauffer, age 96 of Surprise AZ passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 of natural causes. Born January 20, 1926 in Point Pleasant, WV he was the son of the late Fred and Virgie Stauffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife of 64 years, Mieko “Peggy” Stauffer who he married on December 8, 1952, and by a sister, Alma Stauffer.
Dad graduated Cadmus High School in 1943 and Weber State College, Summa Cum Laude in 1986 with a B.S. degree in History. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines, where he served in World War II as a shipman on tankers that delivered fuel to Europe. He then joined the United States Air Force where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force on February 29, 1972. He then worked for the USPS in Ogden, UT. He retired from the USPS in April of 1990.
Dad will be remembered for his kindness, willingness to help others, friendly smile, his practical jokes, and love of gardening and keeping his yard perfectly groomed. Dad you will be missed by many and have left a void that will never be filled. When you see her, tell mom I love and miss her so very much, as I will YOU.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday January 4, 2023 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Full Military Honors will be presented by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and VFW #4464 Honor Guard.
