Gladys H. Gilkey, 93, Athens, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2023, at
The Laurels of Athens.
Born February 17, 1930, in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Sanford
and Laura Florence Dean Well. She was a homemaker and a former salesclerk for
Hecks, Big Wheel, Woolworths, McBees and Gilkey's Gulf Station.
She is survived by children Mark Richard Gilkey, Cynthia Jane East, and Tamara
Lynn (Scott Ray) Wolfe; 5 grandchildren Amber & Tyler, Jeremiah, Courtney & Jake,
Shawn & Lacy, Brandon & Alice;12 great-grandchildren Sierra, Kenton, Abigail, Kaycie, Maggie,
Kaylee, Shelbie, Landon, Amren, Kaden, Daxon, and Justice; great-great grandchildren
Ariel & Johnny; sisters Virginia Brooks and Martha Litz; brothers Keith, Roy, Rodney Well;
many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Garold R. Gilkey,
sister Genevieve Brooks and a brother Ralph Well.
Services will be Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Pastors Roger
Hayes and Ronn Jones. Burial will be in Burlingham Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday 2-4 and
6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
