Cecil Oril Gillette Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at his home at the age of 96.
Cecil was born on May 29, 1926, in Athens, Ohio, son of Arra and Lucy Gillette. Cecil was retired for thirty-four years which he enjoyed every minute. He was a plasterer by trade and retired from the Meigs coal mine. He enjoyed golfing and bowling with family and friends.
He is survived by son Cecil Gillette Jr., Mrs. David (Sis) Wright and Mrs. Allen (Shari) Gillispie, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, best friend and great-grandson Logan and a special niece and nephew Diane and Orland Saylor.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Gillette, brothers Herman Gillette, Delmer Gillette, Harold Gillette, sisters Mrs. Doris Coffman, Mrs. Lucille Cone, Mrs. Pleasant Wilson, a daughter-in-law Sheila Gillette, many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 12 noon in Alexander Cemetery with Minister Rex Young officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Ohio Health Hospice, 444 West Union Street, Athens, Ohio 45701.
