Loretta J. Johnson, 79, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 27, 1943 in Lawrence County, Ohio, daughter of the late Chauncey Cron and Rena Versil Arrington Jackson.
Loretta was a 1961 graduate of Southwestern High School. She worked for many area businesses, Spiegel's Catalogue Store, Gallipolis Motor Company, the Ford Dealership in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Pinecrest Care Center's Business Office, Gallipolis Residential Services, Graham’s Upholstery, and most recently, her retirement job, Remo's which she thoroughly enjoyed. Loretta was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, cheering on her Buckeye football team.
Loretta was married to William C. “Bill” Johnson; and he survives her in Gallipolis, along with two daughters, Rhonda (Russ) Neal of Gallipolis, Ohio and Leah (Matt) Jeffers of Southside, West Virginia; one granddaughter, MacKenzie Newberry (Benjamin Schwieterman) of Westerville, Ohio; one brother,Roland Bud (Linda) Jackson of Ypsilanti, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Doogie.
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her stepfather, William "Bill" Jackson and one sister, Carol Jackson Hatfield.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. with closing remarks given by her granddaughter, MacKenzie Newberry.
