Margaret Elizabeth Spencer Burnette, 87, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at Holzer Senior Care. Margaret was born on November 2, 1935 in Mason County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Marvin H. and Sarah Ellen Berry Spencer. She retired from Green Elementary with over 27 years of public service. Margaret was a 55 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a devout Christian who attended Northup Baptist Church.

Margaret was married to Earl Burnette for 41 years; and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1995. In addition, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Randall Spencer, Gomer Spencer, and Earl "Pete" Spencer; one sister, Virginia "Jenny" Russell; sisters-in-law, Barb (Roy) Spencer and Barb (Pete) Spencer; brothers-in-law, David Atha and Larry Burnette; and one great grandchild, Braxton Day.

Margaret is survived by her children, one daughter, Patti (Phil) Skidmore; two sons, Boyd Burnette and Kevin (Ingrid) Burnette; eight grandchildren, Jodi Gillenwater, Eric (Mandie) Skidmore, Joshua G. (Karen) Skidmore, Bethany (Jack) Burnette-Day, Andrew Burnette, Jodie (Kim) Dutey, Brady Burnette, and Dustin (Maggie) Burnette; fifteen great grandchildren, Eric Skidmore II, Jennalyn Skidmore, Daniel Skidmore, McKenna Williams, Bailey Carter, Braxton Law, Courtney Carter, Justin Law, Adrianna Fox, Alexandria Holley, Ashton Gardner, Trenton Day, Trey Day, Eden Silva, and Ashton Silva; one sister; Eudora "Dorie" (Don) VanScoy; one brother, Roy Spencer; sisters-in-law, Jean Spencer, Taffy Spencer, Loretta Atha, and Brenda Burnette; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Margaret will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Her burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Wednesday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Eric Skidmore, Joshua Skidmore, Dustin Burnette, Trenton Day, Trey Day and Scott Russell, alternate Mike Russell.
