Garland Ward, 82, of Livermore, Kentucky went home to the be with the Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Garland was born on January 21, 1941 in Kimper, Kentucky, son of the late Drewie Ward and Jettie Sloan Ward. Garland was a former member of the Rio Grande Church of Christ and was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Calhoun, Kentucky. He was a retired Coal Miner with the U.M.W.A.
Garland is survived by his loving wife, of almost 64 years, Ezell Smith Ward, whom he married on August 22, 1959. This August they would have celebrated their 64th anniversary. In addition to his wife, He is survived by two daughters, Vonzell Ward Coley of Gallipolis Ohio and Tammy Ward Ring and her husband Paul Ring of Livermore, Kentucky; three living grandchildren, Laura Euton (Justin), Niki Conrad, (Justin Conrad), daughters of Tammy and Paul Ring; Eric Coley, son of Vonzell and Paul Coley and Jessica Conrad, who preceded her grandfather in death, daughter of Vonzell and Paul Coley; six great grandchildren, Kaydence Conrad, daughter of Niki, Gabby Brooks, daughter of Jessica, Rylee Jo Curtis, daughter of Laura, Sadie Conrad, daughter of Niki, and Katie Curtis, daughter of Laura; Harper Euton, daughter of Laura and Justin Euton; one brother James Ward, five sisters, Mae Robinson, Erma Charles, Geraldine Hunt, Yvonia Ward, and Rozetta Cox. Garland was preceded in death by eight sibling, Ercel, Ezert, Louisa, Homer, Robert, Emsie, Virgil, and Pauline.
The Funeral service for Garland will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Evangelist Patrick Gampp officiating. His burial will follow in Vinton Memorial Park, Vinton, Ohio. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
