Text

Dakota Luke “Cody” Lunsford, 27, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2023 in Gallipolis.

Cody was born on October 1, 1995 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of Rebecca (David) Russell and Timothy (Belinda) Lunsford.

He was a person who would give the shirt right off his back to help out his family and friends. He had a free spirit and a huge smile that was so contagious. Cody was involved in an automobile accident in 2011 that completely scalped him, causing a traumatic brain injury (TBI); Cody’s life was forever changed after that. Even though he suffered the TBI, he was kind, had a loving heart, and only wanted to be loved and accepted in return. He was a loving son, caring brother, and comical uncle who enjoyed entertaining all.

Cody enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, and tormenting his mom and sister. He loved spending time with his family. He attended Gallia Academy High School and received a certificate in welding, which he enjoyed doing.

In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by a sister, Bethany (Jesse Partlow) Boggess; niece, Bella Boggess; and nephew, Jesse Partlow, Jr. He is also survived by step siblings, Virginia Oliver, Jessica Delaney, Michelle Shuler, and David Lucas and several aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly. He included a special family friend, Terry Bing, as his extended grandma; he was her Coda Bear.

Cody was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Mary Jaques and paternal grandparents, Gary E. and Beulah Lunsford.

Cody will be loved, missed, and forever in our hearts.

The Memorial Service for Cody will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Joe “Skeeter” Woodall and Pastor Will Gillum officiating. Friends may call prior to the service Saturday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
