Zenia M. Sanders Evans, age 92, of Gallipolis died Thursday September 14, 2023 at her residence. Born February 18, 1931 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Goldie Sanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husbands, Shelly Slone and Donald Evans; brothers, Blaine Sanders, Sydney Sanders, Carl Sanders, and a infant brother; and by her sisters, Audrey Beaver, Iva Beaver, Naomi Sprouse, Annabelle Combs, Garnet Beaver, and Sharon Fasone.

Zenia attended the First Church of God. She was a member of the Cora Ladies Aide. Her life skills were farming, gardening, canning, quilting, crafting, sewing, painting, playing guitar and singing. She enjoyed visiting friends and family in houses and nursing homes. Her enjoyment for the last 15 years was going to Vinton One Stop for musical entertainment with nieces Shirley and Barb, and her friend Sharon where she sang, danced, and was named one of the “Golden Girls”.

Zenia was the beloved Mother of daughters; Jeanette (Keith) Bragg of Rock Hill, SC, and Penny (David) Sands of Gallipolis, and her son, Douglas (Jennifer) Evans of Gallipolis; Grandmother of, Jared (Victoria) Bragg, Derek (Kristen) Bragg, Sean (Ashley) Sands, Kelsey Sands, and Karen (Josh) Skidmore and she was the Great Grandmother of, Kinon Bragg, Reed Bragg, Logan Bragg, Jalen Sands, Maci Sands, Jenalyn Skidmore and Daniel Skidmore.

Our Mom was the most loving and giving person to all who knew her. Her faith carried her thru many trials and blessings of her 92 years. God called her home and now she’s teaching angels how to sing.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Promedica Hospice for caring for their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday September 19, 2023 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Voss officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 AM. till time of service.

Pallbearers will be: Doug Evans, Jared Bragg, Derek Bragg, Sean Sands, Kelsey Sands and Steve Slone.
