Philibert Keith Boggs, 90, of Newark, passed away November 24, 2023. He was born in Gallipolis on October 4, 1933 to the late Marshall and Evelyn (Smith) Boggs.
Left to cherish his memory include best friend and partner, Susan Busch; daughters, Judy (Dennis) Jankowski, Sandy (James) Nolen, and Kelly (Lew) George; son, Thomas Richard Boggs; stepsons, William (Natashia) Busch and James (Kelly) Busch; grandchildren, Jeanne (Jeff) Goodin, Michael Jankowski, Rachel (Rob) Curtis, Jeff (Ben) Smith, Katie (Kevin) Smith, Landon Boggs, Hannah Nolen, Emily (Noah) Armentrout, Sarah (Justin) Hammond, Joseph George, Maria (Clayton) Bullard, Tomara Busch, Katie Busch, Jon Thomas Busch, Jeff Grow, Alex Grow, and Megan Grow; great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Jesse, Clay, Madison, Julia, Nathan, Caleb, Tyler, Carissa, Evan, Paisley Hammond, Lily Hammond; brother, Richard (Rita) Boggs; nephew, Thad (Audree) Boggs; and many other family members and friends. Those who preceded Phil in death include his parents, and his brother, Glenn Boggs.
Phil graduated from Gallia Academy High School, lettering in basketball and football. He was active in Future Farmers of America and received the State Farmer Award and an Agriculture Scholarship Award to OSU. After graduating high school, Phil served two years in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. When he returned from service, Phil fulfilled his OSU scholarship and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Animal Science in 1958. He took his education and served as the Director of Licking County ASCS. In his later years worked as a Financial Planner.
A visitation to honor Phil’s life will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Monday, December 4, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus 43231. Visitation will be again held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, at Waugh-Halley Wood Funeral, 810 2nd Ave, Gallipolis, OH 45631 with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM, burial to follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Military Funeral Honors will be presented by the VFW#4464 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made at https://www.hillsdale.edu/support/ways-to-give/. The Newcomer family is honored to serve the Boggs family.
