Loudonna Jo Watkins, 74, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on June 30, 2023. at Rockland Ridge Nursing Home in Belpre, Ohio.
She was born on August 20, 1948, in Charleston WV, daughter of Jo Ann Bott Johnson and the late Loudon G. Johnson
Loudonna graduated from Clay County High school in 1966 and obtained a bachelor's degree in real estate law from Ohio State University. She also took classes at Glenville State and WVU in Morgantown, WV. She worked with Girl Scouts for 30 years, starting the first group in West Union, Doddridge County in the 1970's. Throughout those years she worked her way up to a leader for the Girl Scouts. In 1977, Loudonna took real estate classes at OSU and sold real estate for Century 21 in Lancaster, Ohio. She spent 35 years serving in various local, county and state positions including: Ravenswood Riverfest Committee, Republican Committee, WVU Nutrition Program Director and President of Little Sandy Community building and playground. She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, serving as President of Post 6669 in Ravenswood and Chaplin of Post 5501 in Ripley.
She was dedicated to volunteering countless hours and helping others through Adopt-A-Family, several food pantries, Backpack programs for children, Veterans, Senior Citizens, and Homeless, Addiction, and Foster Care programs. Loudonna made it her mission in life to help others and make sure no one did without if she could help in any way.
She was a member of the Fannin Chapel in Sherman, WV and Cedar Run United Methodist in Ravenswood.
Loudonna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gary L. Watkins, daughter; Lisa K. Daniels, mother, Jo Ann Johnson, sisters; Linda (Larry) Moore, Diana Hizer. She is also survived by grandchildren T.C. Coats, Desiree an Shante Daniels, great-grandchildren; Ameillo Miller, Dymond and Kasiah Coats, Zakera and Zakiyra Daniels, several neices and nephews, special lifelong friends, Nancy (Tim) Travis, Evelyn (David) Whidbey, and faithful companion KZ.
She was preceded in death by her father Loudon G. Johnson and great-granddaughters Zarayah and Zalisa Daniels.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Reverend Frank Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Ravenswood Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, July 5, from 12: oo-2:oo pm at Roush Funeral Home.
