Billie “Bill” Eugene Grueser, 91, of Racine, Ohio passed away June 28th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 8th 1934, to the late George and Thelma (McElroy) Grueser in Minersville, Ohio.

Bill is survived by his wife of 72 years , Doris Fields Grueser, Three children, Danny (Debbie) Grueser, Diana Karr, and Dawna (Randy) Arnold, seven grandchildren Kelley (Andrew) Sockett, Tara (Jeremy) Johnson, Danielle (Tony) Dugan, Wesley Karr,(Heather Phalin), Whitney (Josh) Hayman, Kari Arnold, (Cory Montgomery), and Austin Arnold (Bailee Bumgarner); Ten greatgrandchildren Angelo, and Chloe Polis, Emma, Zoe, Quinn, and Hazel Johnson, Tyson Dugan, Alexa Ingels, Maddy and Kensley Karr. Bill is also survived by his sister Betty Lou Donovan, and brother Tom Grueser and a special nephew Roy “Butch” Armes, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Thelma Grueser Reitmire, brother Jack Grueser, sister Janey Grueser Arms, and brothers Jerry and Bob Grueser.


Bill started working in 1958 and he retired in June 1989 from the Ironworkers Local Union #787 out of Parkersburg West Virginia.

Bill was a 65-year member of the Shade River Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Big Bend Farm Antiques Club, and Big Bend Bass Anglers Club.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman and would always be found fishing, hunting, camping, or farming. He was known for having a very abundant garden, growing many vegetables of which he then would can. He was known for his dill pickles, a favorite among his grand kids. Bill butchered much of the family’s meat and the family enjoyed whatever mystery meat he would prepare for Sunday dinner. Bill loved fishing and traveled to many places like Canada, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina for trips. In the later years, Bill could be found in his Bass Tracker on the Ohio River or fishing in his daughter Diana’s Pond. Bill also collects many antique fans. He loved going to auctions and finding Items to add to his collection of iron skillets. He collected and restored outboard motors some of which he would find at the bottom of the river. He also collected many antique tractors, and until later years could be found showing his B.F. Avery at the Meigs County Fair. Bill loved cooking especially noodles, vegetable soup, and fried bread for his family and anyone who came to visit.

The family extends a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and the care team with Ohio Health.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 02, 2025 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Funeral Services will be held on July 03, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy, Ohio.
