John Earl 'Johnny' Straight, age 80, of Patriot died Tuesday July 11, 2023 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Born February 24, 1943 in Patriot, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Joy Gaye Marcum Straight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by 2 brothers; Robert Straight and William Straight.
John retired from the Waterloo Coal Company. He enjoyed farming and raising tobacco. He was currently as a Walnut Township Trustee, a position he had held for several years.
John is survived by 2 sons, John Earl Straight II of Grove City, and Eric Scott Straight of Bidwell, 1 daughter, Renee Janet Straight of Bidwell, 3 grandchildren, Cody Noble of Baltimore, MD, Cory Straight of St. Petersburg, FL, and Cole Straight of Cincinnati, 1 great grandchild; Cecelia Straight, 1 brother, James Straight of Patriot, and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday July 22, 2022 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Bowers officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM. till 1:00 PM.
