James Edgar Greene, 76, Bidwell, passed away at 7:59 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024 at his Gooch Road residence. Born March 4, 1947 in Gallia County he was the son of Kathryn Louise Barcus Costen, who survives in Gallipolis, and the late Edgar Greene. James was a Vietnam era U.S. Army veteran and was a retired long-haul truck driver. He was a member of the Faith Valley Community Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sandy Pratt Greene, three daughters, Sherri (Jason) Shriver, of Gallipolis, Stacy (D.J.) Harden, of Oak Hill, Ohio and Jami (Jay) Turner, of Oak Hill, Ohio, three step-daughters, Lola (Cary) Dawson, of Albany Ohio, Shelly (Mark Browning) Kemper, of Bidwell, Ohio and Holly (Tony) Gillman, of Vinton, Ohio, 28 grandchildren with their spouses and 18 great-grandchildren. James is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Lou (Ronnie) Atkins, of Luttrell, Tennessee and Brenda Sue (Steve) Gordon, of Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania and his brother, William Edward (Kathy) Greene, of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Gallipolis. Officiating will be Rev. David Horn. Interment will be in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail Team. Active casket bearers are Jayden Turner, Hayden Kemper, Wess Harden, Josh Shriver, Chase Kemper and Chance Gillman. Honorary casket bearer is Tim Kemper.
