Thomas “Tom” Lee Williams, 77, of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord at his daughter’s home in Ravenswood, WV on Saturday, July 22, 2023 following a recent diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer. At the time of his passing was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Acme, WV to the late Thomas Edward Williams (Navy Veteran) of Dakota, WV and Catherine Williams of Acme, WV. Tom was a 1963 graduate of Ravenswood High School where he lettered in baseball, basketball and football. After graduation, Tom served his country from 1963-1967 in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an Apprentice Administrative Specialist and was awarded a metal for Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship on the M16 and/or M9. After he was honorably discharged, he began his career in Construction, where he was a foreman for most of his career. He also was a great mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles after his retirement.
He loved many things in his life including football, as he was the Steelers #1 fan. He also loved old cars, fishing and sweets. But most of all he loved spending time with all of his loved ones. After moving back to WV in 2009, he was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Sharon Alonzo Taylor, where they were blessed to share the rest of his days together.
Tom was not only a Vietnam veteran, construction worker, and mechanic, but he was also a beloved companion, dad, and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Catherine Williams, as well as by his daughter, Tiffany Williams. He is survived by his sweetheart and companion, Sharon Alonzo Taylor, her son Vince Alonzo (Katie), and his best friend and protecter, Roy, his corgi; his three children, Bobbi Jo (Chris) Gentry of Ravenswood, WV, daughter; Thomas E. (Brandi) Williams (USAF Veteran) of Bridgeport, WV, son; and Christopher William of Flint, Michigan; his grandchildren, Mark, Justin, Kaden, Cameron, Skylar, Raven, Riley, Tony, Ashton, Chris and Tommy. He is also survived by his three brothers, Gene (Mary Ann) Williams (Navy Veteran), of Virginia; George (Laura) Williams (Army Veteran) of Michigan; and Larry (Barb) Williams (USAF Veteran) of Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Full Graveside Military Honors will be provided by Jackson County Honor Guard and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard at Ravenswood Cemetery (flagpole area) on Sunday July 30th at 3pm.
Condolences may be expressed to the family on our Facebook page and on our website at roushfuneralhome.net. Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood is in charge of his arrangements.
