Mona Penelope (Williams) Knapp, 77, passed away on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 at O’Bleness Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on October 26th, 1947 in Pomeroy, Ohio, to Ray and Iris (Winebrenner) Williams.

Pennee attended Rutland High School and Morehead State University. She was an activemember of the Rutland High School Band and played the glockenspiel beautifully. She worked as a Special Education teacher at Rutland Elementary School for 35 years. She later went on to substitute teach at Meigs Elementary School. Pennee had a gift with children, and took care to show love to those who had a special need for her care. She and Richard spent summers at Let’s Dock Campground in Syracuse and leave behind many friends who were like family there.

Family was the primary love of Pennee’s life. She and her husband, Richard, married in 1973 and were happily married until his death in 2018. After Richard passed, Pennee moved to Athens and their daughter, Courtney (Craig) and Mimi’s grandchildren, Kaloni and Keyon, became her beloved focus. Pennee was a constant attendee at Kaloni’s dance recitals and music programs, an adored and supportive fan at Keyon’s basketball and baseball games, and an unmatched friend to Courtney. Pennee was a member at Bradford Church of Christ in Pomeroy where she had many friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Courtney (Craig) Collins of Athens; two grandchildren, Kaloni Collins and Keyon Collins; one brother, Rocky (Terri) Williams of Pomeroy; a special Aunt, Judy Caruthers; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pennee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Knapp; one sister, Connee Enslen; and one brother, Mark (Deanna) Williams.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Anderson- McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. A funeral service presided over by Dave Roach will take place on Friday, June 27th at 1 pm at the Anderson-McDaniel Funeral Home, 590 E. Main St., Pomeroy.
